Hey friends, this week has felt so heavy to see the atrocities that have unfolded from Hurricane Helene, not just in Florida and Georgia, but even here in North Carolina. My heart breaks for the friends who have been impacted by this horrific event. While news channels aren’t covering the devastation NEARLY as much as this natural disaster needs to receive adequate help, it is so heavy on my heart to use this platform to call for action to help in any way possible for those whose lives have been overturned by this event.

While many of you are not fully impacted by Hurricane Helene, others of you have had your lives and the lives of your family wrecked because of this event. 

Here are the top ways I’ve found to support those in need and the disaster relief efforts around Hurricane Helene:

1. Pray

By far the biggest and most impactful thing we can do during this heartbreaking time is pray. I’m praying for the families who have lost everything, that they would find comfort in knowing that this world is not our home. I’m praying for the relief teams that they would be safe, wise, and successful in searching for those who are still missing. I’m praying for the Lord to multiply the help and resources that are being given in order to meet the needs of every person in this crisis.

2. Samaritan’s Purse

Samaritan’s Purse is an organization based in Boone, North Carolina, a town that was absolutely devastated by the Hurricane. Still they are doing everything they can to rally and support those in need. Samaritan’s Purse is the most direct way to help those in need both through donations and volunteer efforts. 3. North Carolina Relief Fund

For those in North Carolina or with family member’s here, a great way to donate directly to our state is directly through the North Carolina Relief Fund.  All donations to this fund will go directly to the nonprofits who are working hands on with victims, food distribution, providing clean water and other relief efforts. 

You can also find a list of all registered North Carolina disaster relief organizations you might want to consider supporting or volunteering with here. 

4. Florida Disaster Relief Fund

For those in Florida or who have loved ones impacted by the destruction cause all throughout Florida, the Governor of Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis, has been utilizing the Florida Disaster Fund to provide help, support, and relief to those impacted by Hurricane Helene. 

5. WNC Boots on the Ground Efforts

My good friend Cristin, who lives scary close to where some of the awful hurricane destruction happened, shared a link to donate to WNC, a local rescue squad in her area that her and her husband are assisting with efforts for. This group is volunteer-based but trained in swift water rescue, search and rescue, EMS etc etc etc. They have a helicopter and have been helping rescue people since day one of storm. An additional fund you might consider giving to is Donald Trump’s authorized Go Fund Me page. This is a great, and verified way to support on-the-ground efforts as they help bring relief to those in need.
