I just got back from two very different hunts, South Dakota and New Mexico, and wow, what a ride! South Dakota didn’t exactly go as planned (yep, had to eat a little tag soup 😅), but New Mexico totally redeemed me with an incredible bull elk hunt and memories I’ll never forget.
With hunting season officially here, I’ve been getting tons of questions about my favorite gear, clothing, and must-have snacks. So, I put together a list of my go-tos that I never head into the field without. From my favorite pieces of SHE Outdoor gear at Bass Pro Shops to the snacks that keep me going all day long.
Let’s break it down 👇
When it comes to hunting apparel, SHE Outdoor from Bass Pro Shops is my top pick every season. It’s made specifically for women, which means it actually fits! No more boxy men’s cuts or awkward sizing.
Here’s what I love most:
When you’re layering up, start with a moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat away from your skin, then add insulation for warmth, and finish with a waterproof and windproof outer layer. This combo lets you adjust to changing temperatures easily!
Pro tip: Don’t forget to size-up your outer layer so they fit over your base layers!
Good gear makes allll the difference in the field. These are a few of my can’t-live-without favorites that make every hunt smoother, safer, and more fun:
If you’ve ever spent a full day hiking, glassing, or tracking, you know snacks are non-negotiable.
I like to pack portable, nutrient-dense snacks that are easy to carry, require no prep, and give me sustained energy all day long. Nuts, trail mix, energy bars, and dried fruit are some of my staples.
Here’s what’s always in my pack:
And don’t forget…hydration is key. In addition to snacks, always bring a reusable YETI water bottle and toss in a MTN OPS Hydrate to make it easy and tasty to stay hydrated all day long.
Pro tip: Bring the MTN Ops hot Ignite trail packs to keep you warm AND energized during those colod weather hunts!
P.S use code EVA to save on MTN Ops products!
No matter if you tag out or not, any hunt is a success in my book! Being prepared is key, and I hope some of my tips help you on your next adventure. No matter where I’m hunting , having the right clothing, gear, and snacks makes all the difference.
Did I miss anything? Leave a comment and let me know what your must-haves in the pack are. I’m always looking for new ideas too!
