As most of you may know, we bought a lake house last year in NC, and let’s just say, it’s been a DREAM COME TRUE!
Growing up on the West Coast in Canada, I was always by the water as a kid, and I knew that I wanted the same thing for Leni & Boone. Now here we are! We recently completed renovations to match our refined rustic style, and let’s just say I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
As promised, I’ll be taking ya’ll on a tour room by room, giving you allllll the details. And if you followed along on our other reno, then you know HOW PARTICULAR I can be (much to Tim’s delight, hah)! So I definitely kept track of all the specific details along the way.
Sooooo, first thing is first, here’s a look at the front exterior! As the first impression of the entire lake house, I had to make sure I hit it out of the park! (And accompanied the teal metal roof, ha!)
Nothing brightens up a home’s exterior like a fresh coat of paint. We turned to Spectrum Paints and found the brightest, cleanest white – Empress Exterior Fresh White (SP4)! The final outcome gave us the modern farmhouse meets refined rustic vibe that we were looking for.
Hanging down from the ceiling are two statement lanterns from Circa. The Freeport Medium Outdoor Hanging Lanterns are the perfect combination of modern and rustic, not to mention they look incredible suspended high above the front door, giving off an atmospheric glow when the sun goes down.
My absolute favorite part of the front exterior is the custom door made by Rustica!! This baby is made out of solid, real wood right here in the USA. I chose the Hudson Design featuring double-paned, insulated, and tempered glass spanning almost the entire door before meeting a rustic solid wood at the bottom. I completely customized it to fit my space and style and opted to add on the sidelights, which made the entrance that much more S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G!
And last but certainly not least, it’s time to STYLE AND DECORATE the front porch! I love a clean and inviting porch, so I am very particular about what and how many items are on my porch. Working from the outside in, I placed my gorgeous outdoor pottery barn lanterns next to my POLYWOOD rocking chairs. POLYWOOD is my go-to for patio furniture, and I’ll be doing another blog focusing on them a little later! Next, I added a green element on each side of the door for a pop of color. And finally, I layered my front door rugs for some added texture. First, I rolled out a larger rug with a stylish pattern, and then I layered a smaller, more functional rug on top that guests can wipe their feet on!
Thanks for following along on the first lake house tour! I can finally say that I’m getting the hang of this whole house renovation thing!
Buckle up because the best is yet to come as we go inside and take y’all through room-by-room over the next few weeks! Welcome to the Lake House.
xo, Eva
