ATTN: EVERYONE – the Jim Shockey Classic Charity Golf Tournament happened last year and we raised a TON of money! As many of y’all know, my Dad is REALLY into anything in the outdoors and also anything that involves competition, so golf is right up his alley! Thankfully, he has channeled his obsession with golfing into an incredible event that raised money to bring military veterans and active duty members on all-expenses-paid adventures around the world. It’s called the Jim Shockey Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC and it happened on December 2nd and 3rd!!!!
What is better than being outdoors AND supporting a good cause?! It does wonders for your spirit. The Jim Shockey Classic is a charity golf tournament that raises money to send both Canadian and American veterans and active duty members on some INCREDIBLE hunting trips where they can make memories of a lifetime. Pull on my heartstrings a little bit more why don’t you?!! But seriously… I look forward to this event every year because of how fun it is and even more importantly, how much of a difference it makes to everyone involved.
Last year Tim, Leni and I joined my parents at the event! Tim golfed as well as my dad and a ton of other men and women of all levels. If you’re an expert, you probably killed it! And if you’re a beginner, I’m sure you had a great time with everyone and enjoyed the day just as much. This was so much F-U-N!!!!
The Classic is supported by Freedom Hunters, which is a Military Outreach program dedicated to honoring those who protect our Freedoms. The mission of the Jim Shockey Classic is to salute the noble work of our courageous men and women of our Armed Forces and boy do they deserve it!
The tournament was held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the stunning Grande Dunes Members Club on December 2-3, 2018. This place was gorgeous and I mean absolutely GOR-GE-OUS… with a state-of-the-art golf course. We had a fundraising auction on the evening of December 2nd and the Golf Tournament itself was held the day of December 3rd . If golf is not for you, the food, wine, spa, view, shopping and entire experience was incredible and worth the trip.
The day of the tournament was filled with fun, fellowship and fundraising and it was so exciting to see how many members of the armed forces we supported through our efforts. I don’t know the exact number but I think it’s somewhere around half a million dollars was raised and we made that number even BIGGER!! I mean, how amazing was it to kick off the Christmas season by doing some serious good for our Heroes?! It always means the world to me to see others in the spirit of giving back to those that deserve it… and then some!
This is such a special cause for our family and for so many others, especially because it involves getting even more people into the great outdoors. Above all else, I think this is the legacy my Dad will be most known for – making a difference in the lives of people who have made SUCH a difference in all of our lives.
We hope we saw you on the course last December!
