If you’ve been keeping up with my life, you’ll know that family is EVERYTHING to me and you’ll also know that I’ve dealt with infertility for years and Tim and I have struggled to grow a family of our own. We have always wanted to have two kids, two years apart but as the famous saying goes, “Man plans, and God laughs”, this was just not in the cards for us. Last year after a miscarriage and a failed fertility attempt, I was at the point where I was willing to try anything that could possibly help me get pregnant. I kept hearing about the Ava bracelet on social media and I was so skeptical, but then I started noticing some of my friends wearing them. I asked around and was told by multiple people that I trust that they really work. So, being the product junkie that I am, I took the plunge and got an Ava bracelet to try for myself.
PSA: If you’re a guy (or girl) who has no interest in fertility struggles, I’m surprised you lasted this far down the blog but now might be the time to opt-out because this post is probably not for you. If you or someone you know plans to get pregnant, has struggled to get pregnant, or are currently pregnant and looking for a great way to track your journey and make it easier, read on!!
For all those hopeful mamas-to-be out there who are trying to get pregnant, Ava is ALL the things! Ava lets you know when anything is up with your body–ranging from weekly progress updates, physiological stress (which definitely can affect your fertility!!) and more. It’s actually right at 89% accuracy for letting women know when they’re in their fertile window, which I thought was both revolutionary and pretty incredible! No more peeing on fertility sticks or taking your temperature every morning – thank you Ava!
Before I even got a chance to wear my brand new Ava bracelet, we had started down the path of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and with IVF, everything is being so closely monitored and manipulated by doctors (hormone injections, birth control pills, estrogen, I mean the list goes on and on…) so the Ava bracelet didn’t get a chance to do it’s job, because my hormones and everything-levels were all over the map. So even though the Ava bracelet didn’t technically help me GET pregnant, I’m loving it for so many other reasons.
After months of the IVF journey (I’ll write a blog about this another time… there’s a lot to it!), I found out I was pregnant (cue the happy tears!!) with baby #2 and figured that I’d never be able to use my Ava bracelet at that point. That was UNTIL I found out that Ava is not only good for tracking fertile days, but AMAZING for tracking pregnancy, too! Hallelujah! I am actually obsessed with apps (I have nearly every pregnancy and baby app available) and anything that can help me get to know my baby and my body as much as possible, so I was pumped to use the Ava bracelet and app to learn more about my growing bump.
What is Ava?
Ava stays by your side throughout your entire pregnancy to provide you with a better understanding of the changes your body is going through–because girlfriends, there are soooooo many if you’re anything like me! The Ava bracelet also tracks your sleep quality and quantity, (all my toddler mamas, hands up if the second pregnancy feels like it’s 4940324 less restful than the first, because you know–TODDLERS) physiological stress, and resting pulse rate, and lets you track your weight gain so you can track your progress week-by-week. I’ve been eating straight carbs for nearly three months now, because the smell/thought/sight or meat and vegetables makes me want to throw up (first trimester struggles) so my weight-gain tracker is putting in some serious WORK already.
I was seriously floored to start seeing all of this cool data about my body and the sweet little baby I’m carrying. I’m getting weekly guides that tell me more about baby’s growth and my pregnancy week-to-week, and I am loving reading them!! I wear it on my wrist at night when I go to sleep and in the morning, it syncs with my phone and before I even get out of bed, I check the app and get all the updates I could ever want!
The science behind stuff like the Ava bracelet is making things easier for moms everywhere–from those praying to become one, or for the expectant one who wants to be all kinds of tuned in to what’s going on in her body. It’s been such a lifesaver for me being as busy as I am, because I still want all of those super valuable insights into this pregnancy.
This is my second pregnancy, and though I might be twice as busy that means I’m twice as blessed. I couldn’t be more excited about this sweet baby and plan to keep wearing the Ava to learn more about each and every change while I can! I can’t recommend it enough for helping me track changes in my body and with our baby–and you can go here and enter code: “EvaShockey” for $20 off this amazing pregnancy tracker for yourself!! Just remember like always, check with your doctor or care team first if you have any concerns about anything baby-related!
I am SO excited to bring you guys more posts–all things home, health, family, and more coming soon!!
