Hunting season is upon us and let’s cut to the chase–if you haven’t read my tips on how to get ready for it, you might as well go ahead and hit up Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s to fill up your cart (and prepare yourself) for a successful hunting season! I’ve broken it down for relevance to everyone/men/women to make it eaaaaasy peasy to get the goods YOU need this season!!
For Everyone:
Binoculars– My dad and I have been using Leupold products for YEARS. We swear by any and all of their products… especially their binoculars (and scopes–see below!). They have great clarity and are comfortable to hold for an extended amount of time. Ten out of ten recommendation in my book!!
MTN OPS Trail Packs–Not packing enough snacks or nutrition for hunts (especially early mornings when you’re heading out and haven’t eaten and get hangry like me, hah) is a no-go in the Shockey-Brent household, so we bring some AMMO trail packs along to add to milk/water. It makes for a super solid meal replacement and is so goooood.
QuietKat Predator Electric Mountain Bike- Do you like riding on intense outdoor trails?! Is hilly terrain your thing?? Are you planning an extra long hunt where you will need POWER and PERFORMANCE but don’t have wide paths for large UTVs?! YES?! Well then this electric mountain bike has your name written allllll over it. The Predator is worth the price tag. Use code SHOCKEYFS for FREE shipping!
Qalo Ring-The silicone design and material was created for flexibility, durability and safety–and it’s perfect for both men and women!! It’s ideal for hunting, but also for those that work in law enforcement, athletes, etc! The ones I’ve linked are the men’s collection, and Tim chooses to wear his everyday for an office job (not just for hunting/fishing) and he says it barely feels like you’re wearing one at all. Loooove!! You can also use code EVA15 for 15% off from Qalo–SCORE.
Walker’s Silencer Rechargeable Electronic Ear Plugs-If you’re like me and take hearing protection seriously when shooting guns, then I recommend these ear plugs (and pretty much anything from Walker’s). They take hardly any room to pack soooo there’s no excuse. People also use them ALL the time for operating heavy duty equipment, but they’re perfectly designed for shooting and there’s nothing else I trust my ears with more.
Leupold VX-6HD Riflescopes- My go-to scope!! My family has been using Leupold products for years and they are definitely worth the investment. You can’t convince me that there’s a better quality brand for scopes out there.
Beretta Rifle- The gun I’m holding in this photo is a Beretta A400 Xplor and I can tell you–it’s SO great to shoot. Anyone who’s ever shot a Beretta can attest to the fact that they are of the highest caliber (hah) and such a fun and accurate rifle to hunt with.
Cabela’s Multi-Day Hunting Pack- Not only can you carry your bow and/or your rifle, but it has tons of straps and pockets to keep all of your belongings safe and organized. It even has an expandable meat compartment! Can I get an AMEN!?
A Good Hunting Hat– Because, fortunately, the game you’re after doesn’t care about hat hair. My faves are from Cabela’s, Leupold, Bass Pro, and MTN OPS!!
For Women:
Qalo Stackable Collection for Ladies- I know I mentioned these already in the “for everyone” column, but I love a good stack of anything and these babies are no exception. These are some of my favorite stackable rings from the Eva Shockey Collection of QALO silicone bands! QALO rings are SO fun to mix and match (make your own unique combo for you and yours!).
SHE Outdoor Women’s Reversible Insulator Puffy Vest- I am a biiig fan of layering and do it pretty strategically while I’m hunting and outdoors. Anddd ladies…you should be, too! Vests keep my core warm while my arms are free to move, which is essential while hunting since at any given time I could be grabbing my gun, binos, snack, something in my backpack, etc.
SHE Outdoor Women’s Midweight Wind-Resistant Gloves- These are the perfect liner gloves for early in the season or to wear under heavier gloves later in the year. They are soffffft and cozy which you don’t always find in ordinary hunting gloves.
Lightweight Performance Long-Sleeve Shirt-This is one of my all-time favorites from Cabela’s. This shirt is lightweight yet durable for when you’re out in the field, making it the perfect combo and ESPECIALLY good in early season and you’re in the Southeastern humidity!!
For Men:
Cabela’s Men’s Insulator Vest- Alright, alright, alright boys (or husbands, boyfriends, friends that are boys, etc.)… I picked this extremely durable vest out for you because it’s Tim’s FAVORITE. Whether you’re hunting in the snow, light rain, or gusty wind conditions this vest is still going to keep you warm. You can thank me later!!
Men’s Lightweight Performance Long-Sleeve Shirt- Cabela’s nailed the design of this shirt. It’s soft and helps reduce odors for long days outside–again with the heat in North Carolina/the Southeast. Wooooooof.
Scent Slammer Throw-N-Go- The Scent Slammer is AWESOME. Although it’s not specifically for men, Tim LOVES this thing so I put it into this category. Toss it in a duffle bag with hunting clothes to help eliminate odor wherever you go. Yes, yes and YES.
There are about a bajillion of other things to list, but these are some of the classic staples that you need for safety/comfort/all the things when it comes to having your best hunting season yet. I can’t WAIT to see how everyone does this year; don’t we deserve a stellar hunting season, 2020?!

Good morning Eva,
You are an inspiration to all outdoors-wo-men. I have been trying to find the best scent eliminating shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I need them to be good for sensitive skin and won’t leave my hair and skin dry.
Can you provide me your recommendations?
Kind regards,
Kristin

Eva,
I’m hunting in cold weather, what is your go to light weight but keeps you good a toasty pants and Jacket?
Thanks!
Hey, Eva!
Thank you for these suggestions! How about base layer options?
Thank you and best of luck this season!????????
Thank you for the suggestions Eva. Any preference on socks?
Hi Eva! I just purchased a 2020 Eva Shockey Bowtech bow… what broadheads do you use? I’m shooting at 50 pounds currently but am having an issue with my current slick tricks not flying accurately.
