When I’m in workout mode, I make sure I fuel my body to give me the strength and energy I need! Cooking healthy meals for my family is kiiiind of my thing. I love grilling wild game or organic meat, mixing in greens, and of course, throwing in a “healthy†treat or two sometimes. It’s all about balance, right?!
Now let’s talk about SMOOTHIES! Smoothies and supplemented water are how I fuel up my mornings before a hunt, workout, or just a busy day ahead! Thanks to my Dad being a hunter, I grew up ALWAYS knowing where my food was coming from. When I went to college, it was such a shock. That’s when I knew I wanted to start hunting myself, and I realized how important it was for me to know where my food comes from. Even now, when we don’t go with wild game that we harvested for dinner, I’m VERY mindful of where we get our meat/food from!
Most of us live busy lives, so it might not always be easy to cook a big meal, but even with those “quick†meals, I try to be mindful. Pro tip: take your cooking outdoors for easier cleanup! I love, love, looove cooking on my Traeger, but I think you already knew that!
Cooking and trying new recipes in the kitchen is something I really enjoy, so today I want to share a few of my favorite recipes with you, including some easy-to-whip-up options to fit your busy lifestyle!
1. The BEST Wild Game Jalapeño Poppers
Mmmm! These little poppers pack in a TON of flavor and they’re fairly easy to make. These are great to make when you’re expecting company, or just for the fam. Pre-heat your Traeger (or regular grill/oven), and get ready to indulge!
15 minutes – need I say more?? This quick dinner option is perfect for the cool weather that’s sneaking in! The best part?! I always have leftovers with this one which makes for a SUPER quick meal the following day. Reheat for a few minutes and you have another easy meal that is just as good, if not better, the next day!
3. Wild About Wild Game Meatloaf
Another easy meal that your family will love! Quick, easy, and healthy is my motto, and this dish definitely falls under just that. Grab some wild game mince, or another healthy alternative from the butcher shop, and get cookin’! Ps! This is another recipe that I like to cook on my Traeger, but you can also use an oven.
4. 15-Minute Wild Salmon Dinner
Salmon is a favorite in our house. It’s healthy and SUPER quick to cook up for the family! This 15-minute salmon can be cooked on the Traeger (or regular grill) or in the oven! Sooo if you’re looking for quick and healthy tonight, this might just be your go-to!
